Fans rioting after Stanely Cup finals … is that really necessary?

After a dissatisfying loss for the Vancouver Canucks at the stanely cup finals, a riot broke out in the streets causing havoc, burning police cars and serious injuries. Seriously fans?? Was this really a cause to act lilke hooligans in the midst of national attention? Although I can see how anxiety and then madness was driven by the disturbingly bad performance of certain players.

Bike for Betty

We invite you, your family and friends to get out your bikes and join us on Sunday, May 29th for our fourth annual Bike 4 Betty. The non-competitive bike routes will begin and end at Memorial Park; cyclists can choose from five routes ranging from a leisurely 2k ride perfect for families with young children to a challenging 100k suitable for trained athletes. Choose a distance that is right for you – 2k, 15k, 30k, 75k, or 100k. Register a team on the Bike for Betty Website.

Charity Road Hockey Challenge

The annual road hockey challenge on Danforth Ave. This one day event brings together neighbours, families, athletes, hockey fans, local business owners and Torontonians from all parts of the city to the scenic Danforth to have fun while raising money for worthy causes.

Team Fee of $200. to be received no later than May 1st, 2011.
(32 team maximum)

Each player must raise a minimum of $75.

Minimum 9 players, maximum 12 players plus a goalie. Must be 19 years of age. One woman must play at all times. A female goalie does not count as a female on the line. Suggested, four women… read more.

Ride for the Rouge

18th Annual Ride for the Rouge. Ride, walk, volunteer or just donate but make sure to take part in the 18th Annual Ride for the Rouge. The Ride consists of a 25km or 50km route for cyclists (for those eager cyclists, do both routes for a beautiful 75km route) or a 4.5km hike for hiking enthusiasts.
